Position Overview:
To provide for those who are interested in pursuing ministry, the opportunity to receive practical
experience in student ministry through Isle of Hope United Methodist Church’s Family Ministry
programs. The goal of the internship is to provide a learning and faith-forming environment,
helping the intern gain skills and experience which are essential to serving in Family Ministries
in a church and para-church environment and would assist in their development to serve in future
ministry opportunities. The purpose of the IOHUMC Family Ministry is to create a community
where students can connect with Christ to become rooted in Him, filled with His Spirit, and be
prepared to pour into the lives of others. The goal of our ministry is defined by our mission
statement: “To make disciples of Jesus Christ”.

Isle of Hope United Methodist Church in Savannah GA. seeks an experienced Director of Student
Ministries. Isle of Hope is a beautiful community located on an island only twenty minutes from historic downtown. Isle of Hope United Methodist Church is a mission- oriented church offering both traditional and modern worship services in amazing facilities, with a weekly attendance of 15-30 students. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team
dedicated to the spiritual growth of students and families.
Position Overview:
To lead a dynamic and welcoming Student Ministry for students in 6th Grade through College, and Young Adulthood (18-25) by developing and implementing a comprehensive approach for students and their families that is guided by our mission statement: “To make disciples of Jesus Christ”.
Position Responsibilities:
• The Director has the responsibility to lead and supervise all programming of education, discipleship, fellowship, and outreach for students 6th Grade through College, and Young Adults to reach and grow disciples.
• Foster relationships with parents in order to build Christ-centered relationships with students; collaborate with staff to assure a smooth transition with families across the spectrum of our family ministries.
• Attend the activities of the students (school lunches, athletic events, chapels, individual extracurricular activities and events of all types, and campus activities) to foster relationships with students and their families.
• Recruit, train, encourage, and equip Student Leadership, Adult Leadership, and Youth Committees.
• Coordinate and provide spiritual growth opportunities for student worship, Bible studies, and small groups.
• Oversee Sunday School for grades 6-12, as well as College/Young Adults; including teacher recruitment; selecting and ordering curriculum and resource materials.
• Lead and oversee the Confirmation process including recruiting and equipping teachers and mentors.
• Plan and provide leadership for special events throughout the year to include mission experiences, retreats, recognitions, and other events.
• Develop the budget for ministry in consultation with appropriate staff for approval by the Finance Committee and oversee the approved budget.
• Coordinate student communications strategy with support from the Communications Coordinator to produce and maintain the newsletter, website, and social media sites.
• Supervise summer interns assigned to Student Ministry in collaboration with the Associate Pastor.
Skills and Qualifications:
A personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior demonstrated in daily living and a calling to this ministry. A personal theology which is consistent with UMC/Wesleyan doctrine and in alignment with the vision and mission of Isle of Hope United Methodist Church.
Qualifications and Gifts:
A passion for ministering to others, particularly students, their families, and young adults with the Gospel of Jesus Christ; ensuring their growth and development into fully devoted followers of Christ who will impact this and future generations.
Education: A Bachelorʼs degree and Five years of relevant experience in delivering a successful Student Ministry is desirable.
Excellent inter-personal skills and demonstrated leadership skills, particularly in building and leading teams of staff and/or volunteers.
The spiritual gifts of teaching and equipping, discipleship, discernment, hospitality, spiritual leadership, and administration are highly desirable.
Proficient in Microsoft Windows and various applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and/or
equivalent McIntosh/Apple software.
Proficient with standard office equipment.
Proficient or trainable in church specific software: ACS and Facility Scheduler (Church Life).
Assure all ministry leaders and volunteers are Safe Sanctuary compliant.
Attend Staff and Worship Planning meetings.

Assistant Director of Traditional Worship

Isle of Hope United Methodist Church is seeking a talented and dedicated Assistant Director of Traditional Worship to join our ministry team. This individual will serve as the principal accompanist, showcasing advanced piano skills and proficiency in organ performance to enhance our worship services.

Responsibilities include playing for Wednesday rehearsals and Sunday worship, collaborating with the Director of Traditional Worship to plan meaningful services, and supporting the choir through accompaniment and leadership. The ideal candidate will hold a degree in music, possess basic conducting skills, and demonstrate a solid understanding of vocal techniques.
