Safe Sanctuaries

United Methodist Churches have historically worked to ensure that children, youth, and vulnerable adults in the community are cared for with food, clothing, education, and an affirmation of value and self-worth. In many communities, The United Methodist Church was the founding force to provide kindergarten for the children of the area, daycare centers for children of working parents, and Sunday Schools where the children heard about God’s love and presence in their daily lives. Today, these traditions continue at Isle of Hope and now include a vibrant youth ministries program and Hope Arbor - a respite ministry program providing fellowship and stimulation for people who have memory loss due to Alzheimer's, dementia, Parkinson's, or stroke. Safe Sanctuaries provides a solid foundation from which we can address the need for prevention of all forms of child and elder abuse.

Because over three million incidents of abuse are reported each year, it is the firm commitment of Isle of Hope United Methodist Church to ensure that every child, youth, and vulnerable adult is safe under the shadow of the steeple.
